Digital Publication Plans for 2009

Association Publishers are invited to share their new Digital Publication projects & goals for 2009.

• Are you launching a digital version of your flagship publication, catalogs, promotional brochures, etc.?

• Will you build separate websites for your digital publications?

• Will you increase creative advertising options for new or current digital publications? If so, what ideas will you initiate?

• Do you have questions that you would like to ask fellow Association Publishers that have already launched digital publications?

Developing a Great Board

I’ve received some early feedback on my article in the January issue of FORUM. Many share my observation that well-run, effective boards with clear vision and deliberate execution are difficult to establish.

 

I hope you can take the information from the article (from Dr. Dolan and Mr. Fortman) to improve your process and approach. Post here if you have questions, suggestions, frustrations or ideas to share.

 

Interestingly enough, I’ve been asked to serve on the founding board of a nonprofit aimed to sustain cultures at risk through museum exhibitions. I’m very excited about this opportunity and my role on the other side of the agenda. I’ll keep you posted.

From Print to Web: The right tools for online design

In my January article I wanted to touch on a few of the areas graphic designers needed to be aware of when tasked to design from print to online design. My introduction stated:

"For those of us who began our design careers with layout markers, Rapidograph pens, triangles and T-squares, the arrival of the desktop computer as a design tool has been both an improvement and a challenge. There are important factors to consider before taking that initial leap into Web design. This article offers some insight into those challenges as well as tips for overcoming them."
